Pratesi bed linens are legendary in the linens
industry for innovative techniques
that combine centuries-old European
traditions with modern technology
and hand-finishing processes to
create linens of unsurpassed
quality. Family-owned since 1896,
the Pratesi phenomenon continues to
grow through individual design that
is both classic and contemporary.
From heads of state to international
icons, Pratesi bed linens have
graced the homes of the rich and
famous with timeless style and
uncommon taste.
The
family tradition to create
unparalleled linens has spanned four
generations and continues to endure.
The Pratesi family closely controls
all aspects of the manufacture and
distribution nationally and
internationally of all of their bed,
bath and table linens.
What makes the Pratesi Bed Linens
remarkable is the attention to
detail at each
stage of the production process.
From their villa north of Florence
the
Pratesi family creates the
collection and closely monitors the
production
process in their workroom.
Each season the Pratesi family
negotiates with the Egyptian cotton
merchants
to secure the top two percent of the
southern Egyptian cotton crop. The
humidity in this region promotes the
growth of long staple cotton which
is
legendary for its softness. Pratesi
uses the innermost threads in each
cotton boll which are the most
durable to create their bed linens.
From the time the cotton is sourced,
dyed, woven into fabric and
finished, a two year timeline is
required to manufacture each piece.
Every piece is manufactured with
artisan craft in mind and is hand
embroidered and hand finished.
For the last century, the Pratesi
family has been producing linens for
European nobility, musicians,
tycoons, media elites and a host of
other
notables.
The
Oak Street council website reports
that Ernest Hemmingway would reward
himself with Pratesi bedding after
completing a novel.
